Nursery Dresser #1

I'm so excited to be working on Laura's Nursery. I have 3 pieces of furniture to redo, walls to paint and a few ideas to make it super adorable. Here's the first piece I've completed. (Sorry for the terrible flash- I had Mr. Right's camera on the wrong setting) Here she is before. Great lines, but a little too brown. The handles were wood knobs, but I had already removed them. After a good sanding, prime and a few coats of white paint- here she is all ready for the nursery...
I love the glass knobs. Have a great weekend. Love, Kelly

  1. Hi!
I love what you've done to that dresser and also the other dark one you recently re did that you mentioned selling it for $175 on CL!
I found your blog from 1 of your ebay listings and I'm HOOKED!

You've inspired me to bargain hunt shop..its ridiculous to pay so much for clothes the way I've been doing. I swung by my local Goodwill yesterday to take a look and didn't find anything. I called them while I was there because no associates were around..I asked them when dollar day is and they told me they dont have dollar days. >_<
I read somewhere in your posts about the dollar days. I guess its different here in California. Our goodwills here sells top for 5.99 and bottoms for 9.99. I think $1 sounds much better. lol

    Keep bloggin & selling!

Also, congrats on your 5th child that is on her way! =)

  2. I love how this turned out! I love the drawers, I love the knobs, I love it all. I want ONE!

  3. This is absolutely fabulous - what a unique piece!

  4. Completely and utterly darling. I just love what you did with that piece. -- Jane F.

  5. Beautiful blog and great job on the dresser!

Following you back! Nice to meet you :-)

  6. Talking about you on my blog tomorrow... XOXO
Hope you are doing ok with the pregnancy.

  7. I was wondering how you get rid of the musty smell in your finds? I have dressers that were used by an elderly woman who scented the drawers. I am sure my sons don't want to smell like old lady sweaters and I don't know how to get rid of the smells. I also don't want them to smell like cedar. Any suggestions? If I paint/varnish them won't the clothes stick to the varnish?

  8. Michelle, It's all about priming and sanding. If you use Kilz primer it will take all odors away. Also, by sanding after each coat of primer and paint, you will have a beautiful furniture store finish- which will not stick to clothes. Good luck

  9. Thanks for the input Kelly, we are talking about painting and sanding the "inside" of the drawers right???? You make it sound so easy. thanks for the inspiration. Love the clock.

  10. Wow - what a tall dresser! I love it... thanks for sharing at the Power of Paint Party!

  11. That chest of drawers is so cute and great for a nursury. All of those little onsies will be a perfect fit in those small drawers.

  12. That is one sweeeeet piece of furniture! Great find!
