On the other hand, if I buy things at Goodwill, turn around and make a profit of their inventory am I there financial lifeline or their biggest competitor?
Interesting debate isn’t it.
Over the years I've spent thousands of dollars at Goodwill, but in return Goodwill has profited me thousands of dollars. It takes work on my part, creativity too, but it's a great partnership.
I opened an email sent to me from Jessica Douglas, Public Relations & Events Specialist of Goodwill of Central Arizona.
This is what Jessica’s note said.
Hi Laura,
I’ve been following your blog since I joined Goodwill earlier this spring and I just love it.
Goodwill of Central Arizona is opening a new concept store in
We’re celebrating the new store with a Redesign Your Room contest where the community can submit photos of a room in their home they wish to redecorate. The winner will receive a $500 gift card to use in the new store plus a one-hour interior design consultation with Cristi Pettibone, the owner of City Chic Designs.
I’ve attached a full release for your reference, and as always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Take care and I look forward to working with you in the future!
Jessica

Is this the coolest! I can’t wait to see what
So there you have it. Goodwill and My Dear Trash are great friends working together to make a difference in our community and our environment. Thanks for contacting me, Jessica. I just know we'll be doing something great together in the future.
This is great, Laura!
ReplyDeleteI go to the Scottsdale goodwill all the time. And I've been waiting for this new Redesign store to open in the old GW space.
Gotta tell you though, I rarely see the items in pristine condition on $ day at the Scottsdale GW that you seem to find. Which GW in the PHX area has the best stuff, in your opinion?
Take care,
Edie
Wow! That is seriously so cool; yeah for you! You've definitely got to go! Pam @ Sallygoodin
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I am utterly envious. We need one of those in Utah.
ReplyDeleteThat is so stinkin awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteA what a confirmation of what you are doing for your home, family, the people who work at goodwill, the people who shop your ebay store, and for the environment! So cool.
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I too am obsessed with G.W. I will be at the opening this Saturday for sure! I hope we don't spot the same "find" at the same time!
See you Saturday!
Lisa
That is too funny! You really do get some great finds at Good Will. Enjoy your grand opening.
ReplyDeleteSuper cool! I'm a Goodwill junkie so I wish they were doing something like that in Indiana!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that you shared that letter with us! I shop at Good Will in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis/St. Paul). Glad to know they appreciate us, even if we might resell a lot of the items we find at their stores! You have inspired me to search for even more great finds! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteWait is this the Goodwill across from Antique Trove? Dang, I was JUST there I didn't know they closed down to redesign (I have the wrong store don't I). This is either going to be a big hit or a huge failure. But kudos Jessica for thinking outside the box. I actually hope it is a big hit!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a lucky girl. My Dear Trash has officially been granted the rights to use the GoodWill logo on our blog. Thanks Jessica.
