Screen Redo

Here's the screen I picked up for $10 last weekend. I needed one of these to hide a hot water heater in my craft room- but she needed a little make-over first.First I took her all apart.
Then prime, sand, paint, sand. I wanted to replace the lace with a nice heavy black check fabric but, one problem, I don't sew! Dispite that fact, I pulled out my sewing machine- I bought this for myself for Christmas in hope I would learn to sew. I used the lace as a pattern and just wung it (is that a word, or is it winged it? Or well) It turned out amazingly well. Here's the after...
I ended up using a width that was 3 times the lace width because I wanted it to really gather. I hemed all the edges then made a casing (I think that's what it's called) for the rods to go through.
This will be such a great disquise for my hot water heater.
I wish I could have photographed her in the craft room- but that project is not quite ready. Today it's over to Laura's nursery, so the craft room will just have to wait! Have a great weekend, hope you find lots of trash. Love, Kelly
