A thick coat of painters caulk.
Next I removed the wood dividers that separated the mirrors. At this point I thought it would make a fabulous twin size headboard. All I'd have to do is use batting and fabric on the back board and screw the wood frame to the bed frame. Only problem... I only have 1 twin bed and it already has a headboard. Upon further inspection I decided to take the whole thing apart and use just the architectural piece.
Here it is all detached. But that darn seashell is still showing. 4 coats of wood putty later here she is...
I painted just the middle the same tan that's on many of my walls- so I could do a vinyl treatment. I applied a B for our last name and sprayed on a few coats of Semi-Gloss Black, peeled off the vinyl and ...
here she is hanging above the double doors to our family room.

Wowsa! I love how you documented the whole evolution...and the final product certainly looks like it would cost more than $1! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! Wish the Goodwills here had $1 days!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great transformation! Clever girl!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with your creativity! First, I loved how you filled in that seashell with wood filler. I never would have thought to do that! I didn't read the title of your post, so I didn't realize it was a monogram piece. It was a surprise to me what you did with it. Great job! I'm inspired! :)
