Funky Town by Lipps Inc. has been my theme song lately. This is not a good funk, mind you- It's a weird place I go to a few times a year. What triggers my trips to Funky Town? I wish I knew. What I do know is that when I'm in a funk I'm way less productive- you could even say lazy, I second guess myself, I think a lot and do a little, I'm impatient, crabby and I eat more chocolate and watch more T.V. It seems as a retired teacher that each summer I do go through a bit of a self reflection/evaluation. August for a teacher is like January 1st is for everyone else. You spend the summer evaluating the school year, adding new curriculum, tweaking old curriculum and setting new goals for your class. When working I would start the school year feeling renewed, excited and ready to conquer the World. The only catch, now that I'm retired, is I can't take an entire summer to get renewed. I have a vintage market show I'm participating in that's only 2 weeks away and I have zero merchandise, my space at Qcumberz is near empty and my blogging has been sparse lately. So I thought I'd put it out there on My Dear Trash... Have you ever been to Funky Town? Like the lyrics say, "Gotta move on, gotta move on..." How do you "move on" You've got my full attention and I'd love to hear your suggestions. Love, Kelly.
Unfortunately I've been in funky town the last few years. Maybe that's why we're such good neighbors. When you find a "moving company" that can get you out of F-town let my know. I'll go in halves. You could always go buy a new outfit ( I here you have a funeral to attend/plan), or redesign my living room - it's still not working for me, or find another great place to travel. You make a great travel critic. HEY THAT'S IT! that could be your new passion. Travel and report to all of us that are stuck and we can live vicariously through you. Forget the kids, the dog and money. You're a thrifter and surely Amanda wouldn't mind holding down the fort months at a time.
I've been in Funky town lately too. I have so many great ideas but no motivation to get them done! What always helps me is turning on some upbeat music. Just getting started is hard for me. Once I get started it seems to go better. So I tell myself I will work for 10 mins. and than that 10 mins. turns into 30 mins. and a finished project!! It seems like you have a lot on your plate in the next coming weeks, you seem to like striving for goals, so maybe set a goal for yourself that includes some type of reward?? Or start by doing a quick instant gratification project that gets you excited to continue? Although empty spaces and low merchandise can be stressful it is also a good sign that your stuff is selling and you are good at what you do!
IT'S THE HEAT!!!!!! Getting in and out of the car all day long. Not wanting to go outside at all. I was thinking of drinking some poweraide zero everytime I leave the house to keep the electrolytes up. Running any errand just wipes me out.

What is My Dear Trash?
After I was sexually abused, I felt like trash. Through God's love, I was able to find my worth again. My Dear Trash is about finding value where others may not see it, in ourselves, in our world, in our unborn and in our relationships and with God.
