Trash to Cash Wednesday!

Does anyone else look forward to Trash to Cash Wednesday? I know I do. Mostly because that when I sit down and add everything up for the week. Sometimes I'm surprised with the total, sometimes disappointed. But either way I think it's important to know exactly how much you're making. Let's take a look at the top sellers of the week...
New With Tags Avenue size 22 chocolate brown career pants had been listed for several weeks and were down to $5.50, but ended up selling for $10.50After 4 weeks on the auction block, this Anne Klein size 12 black skirt suit sold for $14.50.
This Men's new with tags banana republic size XL blue argyle sweater sold for $16.50
These Lane Bryant size 16 Tall brown career pants sold for $17.50. And my top seller of all time...
This Giorgio Armani size 8 black silk cocktail dress sold for $99.00. It's on it's way to Australia! I paid $1.00 for all of these items at local thrift stores. Here's the weeks totals...

Ebay Profits:$541.00
Craigslist Profits:0
Costs: 75.00(clothes), 73.05(ebay fees), 36.48 (paypal fees)
Total Profit:$429.43

I know I said I was going to save for a camera, but my sweet friend Laura reminded me of the good camera deals on black friday (the day after Thanksgiving) so I think I'm going to wait. But I did put my profits to good use this week... I bought one of these...

I already have the small personal cutter, but so many of my crafts require the larger machine. I bought a brand new machine with bundle that had no shipping fee on ebay for $168. It comes with design studio software, etching cream, vinyl, transfer tape, instructional DVD, project DVD and tons more stuff. What a deal! I can't wait until it arrives so I can show you all the cool projects. And, after this week I still have enough left over for the camera- can't wait to see what kind of a deal I can get on that. Have a great day. Love, Kelly.

  4. You never fail to amaze me with your finds and sales! I have been been meaning to ask you...how long do you list for (5,7 or 10 days?) and are there certain days that you find the listings you do on those days do better (like listing on Sunday ending on Sunday does best or something like that?) I always love to hear your advice.
    Peace & Love,

  5. More questions, more questions! How do you figure shipping to other countries? I'm three weeks into selling, and I've about figured out that most clothing items ship for around $6, but I only ship in the U.S. - should I be accepting bidders from other countries?

  6. Amanda:
Laura and I do a flat rate international shipping of 14.00. If you're shipping to Canada it's great because you may only have to pay $5-$6 dollars, if it's Australia- depending on weight- it may come in at 13.00- you will want to ship in a regular manilla envelope (you can do up to 4 lbs for international) and do first class international mail. If for some reason the shipping is more than 14.00 when you get to the post office, just switch it into a flat rate priority envelope- those ship for 13.90- so no matter what the 14.00 covers your international shipping. International customers expect to pay a little more- You need to remember that you're paying paypal fees on the money you collect for shipping, you have to stand in line for international shipping (you can't use the automated machine after hours) and you have to fill out a customs form. For me, it's really fun to see where your clothes are going. I've shipped to Japan, Romania, Bosnia, Australia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Canada, London, etc. etc. Good luck.

  7. Barb,
I list for 7 days. I think there's really something to having your item run all week. I really don't pay attention to the best day to list. I have to do ebay when it's good for me (which is Monday's and Tuesdays from 6:30am-8:30am most of the time) Ending in the early morning is definitely not the best time, but it works for me. I've heard people say Sunday nights are the best. But Sunday is our family day- no computers, no T.V., no music - No distractions. I always do my relists in the evening so they'll end in the evening because I do thing more people are on ebay at night- but really, if it's on for 7 days I don't think it really matters when you list it. Hope that helps.
