I’ll be honest.
There
have been times it’s been hard for me to get away from home; times I wasn’t
quite ready for a trip; for vacation. “I
just need to finish this” or “I haven’t had time to pack.” There’s always a messy house to clean and
undone errands, but let me tell you – this time around I was ready to go and
get out of town.
The kids have been great and finished the school year
strong, but it’s been so busy. The last
few weeks, I feel my mothering has been a lot of “Put your shoes away” and
“Finish your homework.” I haven’t done
much “Get over here and give me a hug” or “My, you’re a handsome fellow.”
So, off we went to our favorite Newport , CA .
This is my favorite vacation spot ever.
I know just were the Trader Joes is and the
best place to thrift. Laguna Beach is down the
street (this year we spotted a pair of pilot whales) and I love playing in the
water with my babes.
The counselor brought the bogey board for the kids, I had to remind him.
I think the counselor would drive to California just for his favorite doughnuts
from Seaside Café. He likes the raspberry
filled glazed best.
Did you know she’s 75% for height and 25% for weight in her age bracket?
Yeah, she’s my runway model in training. She
loved the sand, hated the water.
We hit Knotts Berry Farm.
I think Eden had more fun exiting the ferris wheel then riding it.
And she was horrified of Snoopy and the gang.
and she was a little freaked out when the boys were digging for sand crabs later at the beach.
These kids of mine are so much fun to hang out with (and I really like that tall guy next to me too).
I'm not sure I've ever had a more relaxing trip. I'm at a fun stage of mothering; with a great teenager leading the pack for his younger brothers and a little girl who's getting more independent each day.
Now that were back home it feels like we never left. So happy I have some beautiful pictures to
remind me we were really there.
Glad you had fun!! You guys deserved the much needed vacation!
