Dressember- Here We Come!

I have some great friends participating in Dressember this year, a month of dresses. The rules of Dressember are simple: wear dresses all month long.  According to blogger Blythe Hill, the spirit of Dressember is about reclaiming, embracing and celebrating femininity!  I’m all for that, but I’m going to add a thrift element to my participation by only wearing thrift store/yard sale dresses.  Eden is going to play along too.  Here we go.

I have a love affair with CP Shades and found this skirt at Goodwill for $4.99.  New, a skirt like this can sell for around $100 or more.  The Talbot wrap-around shirt, which sells new for around $69 was also found at Goodwill on Dollar Day.

I couldn't believe when I found this lace, linen, creamy skirt from Anthropologie at Goodwill for $4.99.  The quality is amazing, as are the textures.  New, this skirt would sell for over $100 or more.  The corduroy American Eagle jacket was $1.00 from Goodwill.  Notice the vintage owl necklace, picked up at a garage sell for $1.00.  Love the counselor's boot!  I don't want to remembering that ax-ident?  I'm telling you, there's a whole lot of joking going on and the counselor is the one who starts it most of the time.  Read about the ax and the foot by clicking here.

Eden is wearing a Nordstrom dress I found at a garage sell for $4.00.  She's was happy to pose and knows just what to do when I pull out the camera.
Dollar day on Thursday's at Goodwill is so rocking!  I've already started my Christmas shopping, but this month I will scour the dress section for Eden and I for dresses (and skirts).  Happy Shopping!

  1. Love the dresses! I've been dresses and skirts only for a couple of years now. Most of my dresses come from Goodwill. Planning on making a trip to GW today in fact!

  2. I love your post and this idea and can't wait to join in. But I'd like to offer this - as a writer I think it would benefit your reputation to use proper words and grammar. For instance you don't buy things at a garage sell - Sell is a verb. It would be a garage sale. I don't want to sound mean and harsh and I am sure I will get lots of negative comments but if you claim to be a writer then someone needs to point these elementary errors out.

    1. Thanks for the writing tips. I've never been an A+ English student. Hopefully I can remember your tips!

  3. "Anonymous" is totally correct about the use of the words "sale" and "sell." However, I would like to point out that her paragraph is not perfect, either, as she is missing a whole lot of punctuation; namely, essential commas in crucial places. If you are going to point out someone else's writing errors, be sure that your writing is error-free! Otherwise, that would the proverbial pot calling the kettle black, as they say.

  4. Laura,
Amongst this amazing grammar lesson, I just need to point out how beautiful you look in these photos. Keep up the good work and remember, we all make mistaks :)

  5. Laura,
You do look beautiful! (And so does Eden, of course!) I love the idea of "Dressember!" I think I may have to jump on the bandwagon although I may have to re-use some skirts frequently as my ever expanding pregnant belly won't fit into much these days!
    Love you!

  6. Darn....I was just wishing my Salvation Army still did dollar days. Sadly, in my area they are a thing of the past. Love the dresses, both you and your daughter look lovely. (PS if my english isn't correct I don't give a darn)
