Trash to Cash Wednesday!

Now that the computer's paid off I took a little break this week, but still made a nice profit. I currently don't have any items on craigslist (sold everything at the estate sale) so ebay is my one companion. By taking a break I mean I didn't get my relists done until after Tuesday night so they won't count in this weeks total. Let's take a look at my top sellers. This Women's Ralph Lauren Size 3x blue career shirt sold for 12.00. I'm anxious to see how I do this next week as I found 6 of these plus size Ralph Lauren shirts in different colors. $12.00 each would be amazing! These LEI size 24 Sophia Hiphugger jeans were $2.00 at a garage sale ( I usually don't pay more than $1.00- but this time it paid off) They sold for $15.55

This NWOT Talbots size 12 Black and white Career Dress sold for $15.39. Tweed is really going well right now.
I almost hesitated to buy this Aeropostale Size L Navy Blue Rain Jacket for $1.00, because Aero hasn't sold that well for me in the past. So glad I decided to make the purchase, it sold for $18.49.
I found this NWT Donna Morgan Cocktail Dress (with a $200 price sticker) for $1 at the thrift store. It sold for $24.99. Here's how it all added up:

Ebay Profits:$248.90
Craigslist Profits:0
Costs: 4.00(clothes- I had a gift card from a friend and 10 returns), 26.67(ebay fees), 26.18(paypal fees)
Total Profit:$192.05

Not bad! I haven't decided what I'm saving for next- I like to have a goal, it keeps me focused! I promise I'll post some pics of the new computer tomorrow! Can't wait to show you. Love, Kelly

  1. Wow! This is super exciting! I have a few things I'd like to sell...but just haven't looked into the "how tos" of Ebay. You've inspired me! I found you over at Denton Sanitorium and I'm so glad! New follower...and looking forward to reading lots more and seeing what your next goal is!

  2. You mentioned returns? Does your goodwill take returns? Boy I wish mine did. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten home and discovered something wrong with a piece of clothing or that it has no size in it. But I learned some valuable lessons. I'm a whole lot more choosy on what I will buy and I don't take my kids with me when I'm looking at clothing.

  4. Wow! I need to get back into Ebay... you guys are inspiring.
Have you ever checked Shopgoodwill.com... they do an auction, like Ebay, but with the good stuff from GW. I have bought some great things, but have often seen some really good stuff from the Phoenix GW & I can not bid because it is pick up only because it is furniture. I did buy something from the Phoenix GW that I re-sold on Ebay yrs. ago... check it out. : )

  5. Our goodwill doesn't do $1 days or returns (no one in this area does). But. We have one of the goodwill outlet stores here. It's amazing!

  6. What do you ladies do if you have a buyer who asks you to ship something cheaper. Instead of the flat rate envelope?

  7. Jenny,
We are using the least expensive shipping methods. If an item weighs less than 13oz, it's mailed in a manilla envelop and we charge $4.95 shipping and handling (The handling helps cover some of the ebay and paypal fees) If it's over 13oz it has to be shipped priority mail and the flat rate envelope is the least expensive method. If a buyer isn't happy with the shipping method offered, they shouldn't bid. Harsh, I know, but out of hundreds of items sold I've only had 1 buyer ask for cheaper shipping and once I explained the rules of the USPS they completely understood. Thanks for the question.

  8. Emelie, our goodwill does returns if you have a receipt dated within 2 weeks of purchase and the original tags. They used to require they be attached, but once I explained that sometimes I want to get a stain out and have to wash the garment and if the stain doesn't come out I want to return it- They simply said make sure you just keep the tag. Ask your store for their printed policy- Our stores have them printed out and hanging up. It clearly states if an item returned has a receipt and no tag the lowest price will be refunded in store credit: $1.00. That's all I ever pay for clothes at Goodwill so I'm happy.
