What Happened To My Arms?

Lately, I’ve wondered. What happened to my arms?

My arms? Something I never really thought about until recently when I noticed the flab.

Is this what happens? One day you wake up and think "I have the arms of a 40 year old woman" and then you realize "I am a 40 year old woman!"

Sure, I’ve always wanted a flatter stomach. When I was younger, I worked really hard doing sit-ups every night. I had the Jane Fonda Video workout memorized and minus the leg warmers, I did the exercises every day. I’ve done lounges, ran the stairs at the stadium and power-walked with the best of them.

But my arms? I guess they always looked decent. Honestly, I thought arms stayed looking good with little effort. I was wrong.

My arms finally caught up with the rest of my body. With this last pregnancy, my upper arms took a nose dive into almost-middle-aged-hood, you know somewhere in the late 30’s early 40’s. Man, what do I do with my arms now?

I know the answer. It’s worked before and it will work again. It’s called Yoga.

I love yoga, my me-time. It really works, if I can just find any time to get it done.

This weekend I could’ve found ½ an hour for some yoga, but I have my priorities.

Garage sales.

I had ½ an hour and here’s what I found.

I love these vintage patio chairs and for $10.00 each, I brought them home. What I like most about them is they'll work great "as is." Still, there's a part of me that would love to re-do them, but as you know, I'm not that kind've girl.

Can’t wait to see what I’ll do with this $40.00 buffet table.

Maybe sell it on Craig’s List or maybe attack it with some yellow spray paint like this beauty.I can't take credit for this amazing transformation. I found it over at Tammy's blog called In Stitches. Here's the before picture:

And here's the after:

Man, I would love to do something brave like this, but as you know, I'm not that kind've of girl, although I'd love to be.

And these vintage lamps. I want to keep this one.

But these other two, I'll see how they do on Craig's list. I paid $10.00 for all 3.

Maybe today will be a better day for yoga. Even thought Saver’s has a $1.00 day on Monday, I don’t think I’ll be going. I don’t feel like the workout of taking three children to the thrift store, although some day soon I’ll be brave enough to do it. Today, I'll find the time for yoga.

  3. Laura, Love those chairs! The hole in them is awesome. I bet Jen could help you do something amazing with those chairs. They're so stylish and 50's, very cool. You always find the best deals, man I wish I lived there, you could teach me how you do it.

  4. HAAA!! You crack me up!! I've always carried my weight through my upper body. From one arm through my 34DD's and right out the other arm! They didn't get bad though until I woke up one day and realized just how close to 40 I am too! ;) Gonna have to start doing something about them too!

  5. When get going back to saver salvation army or goodwill don't get a cart when you first get there. Carry everything in your arms for as long as you can stand and then go a little longer and then get a cart. Should help a little with the arms.
