The Nursery is Done!

I'm so excited to do the Big reveal on Laura's nursery. She's in the process of being induced as we speak! Here's some before pics so you can really appreciate the transformation. A view from the door
Just inside the door

After an hour we had the room empty and ready to go.
Here we are priming the block wall to get rid of that dark burgundy paint. If I were to choose an element of the room that was the most difficult, it would be this block wall.
Here's the after:
The ceiling, crown, trim, and baseboards were all painted Behrs polar bear white. The block wall was painted Behr's Rose Marquis and the other 3 walls, Disney's Shy little Piglet.
Each piece of furniture was painted with a fresh coat of white and lightly distressed. Glass knobs were added to give them that feminine quality. To see the before pics of the diaper changer dresser go here.

Here's some upclose pics and all the juicy details:
Nothing was purchased retail for this room with the exception of paint and fabric (with a coupon of course) Here's the diaper changing station. This ornate stand with bowl holds some left over glass crystals laura received free. I picked up the contoured diaper changer for $2 at a garage sale. The pink minky cover came from a mutual friend and fellow trash collector, Talma. She of course found it at at yard sale. I found the lamp for just $1 this weekend. A little spray paint and it was ready for the nursery.

Mr. Right and I made this custom mobile out of large chandelier crystals Laura received for free. You won't believe what the other pieces are...Stay tuned Thursday for the tutorial.
Laura picked up this cradle at Goodwill for just a few dollars. I sanded off the bright yellow paint and lamb decals and gave it a few coats of Rustoleum's Semi-gloss white. I added an E monogram for Eden. Don't look too close, but I sewed (I know SCARY) a little sleeping bag slip-cover to go over the blue and white striped cradle pad. Now it coordinates with the hope chest and rocker.
The white candle chandelier was another trash find and the custom Eden artwork was created by Laura's sister-in-law, Heather.
More great finds that just needed a few coats of white and a little distressing.
Here's another look at the lamps that I refinished. All they needed was a little paint and some shades instead of globes. To see the befores go here
I created this vinyl quote above the crib with a frame I picked up for $1 and a scrap piece of luan- It reads: The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child.
Here's the adorable sleigh crib laura picked up for free at the fraser field swap. All it needed was a paint job and a few simple repairs, by Mr. Right. I grabed the pottery barn bumper pads from a yard sale for a few bucks this weekend and Laura bought the pottery barn sheet from a separate garage sale.
Here's one of the refinished dressers I posted earlier. You can read about it here. She's topped with a beautiful custom star made by a friend, Amberlee.
And here's the completed rocker. She now sports a fresh look with new white paint and beautifully recovered cushions by our friend Dawn. Thank you Dawn, this is really the focal point of the room. To see the before pics of the ottoman I recovered go here.
And here's a picture of one of the closets I reorganized (the other has boy clothes in it and I couldn't bring myself to show all that blue in this reveal) With a mother who's a professional shopper, Eden will never have to worry about what to wear. It has truly been a blessing to work on this room for Laura. So many people contributed their talents and love to help make it special for her and Baby Eden. Think of Laura today as she brings this sweet spirit to join her family. Hopefully tomorrow we will have some pictures of the best reveal, baby Eden. Love, Kelly.

  24. WOW! Wow! Wow! Pictures of this room should be on display at OBGYN offices. It's so sad how much money new parents shell out for the perfect nursery (and who can blame them for wanting to)when a new baby already comes with additional costs and budget constraints. You have shown how to make a showcase room on a bargain budget! The brick wall is now such an asset! Everything looks great, one item out shines the next.

  35. I LOVE this... the pink is fabulous! I'm pregnant, but we don't find out the gender, so our nursery is all white. If I knew it was a little girl, I would go with pink, pink and more pink. :)
