New Beginnings "Lovin' It"

We were showing the love to our young women at our New Beginnings: Lovin' It night last Wednesday. The main table was filled with decorated heart shaped sugar cookiesseriously the best recipe ever!

I used priority mail boxes wrapped with plastic table cloths (it was less expensive then paper) and accented with ribbon as risers. These polyhedrons were a family fun idea you can find here. They were made out of pink paper plates and were the perfect accent to hang over the table. The "backdrop" was a whiteboard on wheels that I draped with a white sheet and then sheer pink heart overlay. The heart garlands were made out of felt...I cut these out at my local scrapbook store using a dicut machine- it gave me the perfect heart. I attached them together using my sewing machine and white thread.

The decorate your own cookie bar was a huge success.
We asked each of the girls to add to the chalkboard what they love about personal progress...As you can see it filled up quickly. What a fun night it turned out to be. If you'd like the sugar cookie recipe- leave me a comment with your email address and I'll send it over to you. I'll be posting my daughters "under construction" baby shower pictures later this week and I've just started another vintage reception- I'll try to post some progress pics these next few weeks. Hope you have a fabulous Monday. Love, Kelly.

Here's the recipe:
1 cup butter
1 1/2 sugar
2 eggs (put in measuring cup and fill to 1 cup mark with 1/2 and 1/2)
1 tsp vanilla
Cream above ingredients together
Put the following dry ingredients in separate bowl and whisk together:
5 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

Add flour mixture to creamed mixture. turn out onto lightly floured surface. Roll cookie dough adding up to 1/2 cup more flour as necessary to hold dough together. Roll to 3/8" thickness for a nice sturdy cookie. Place on parchment paper covered cookie sheets. Bake 350 degrees for approx 10 minutes (it was 14 minutes in my oven) Switch places of pans in the oven at the half way point (don't use convection). Cool on racks. You can freeze cookies. We used huge cookie cutters and 1 batch made 11 cookies. Enjoy!

  1. I would love your cookie recipe. They look great. Maybe I'll even have time to make some today. And, as always, you did an awesome job with the decorations. Thanks, Cindy

  2. Cute, Kelly!

The girls must have felt really special. That's such an important role that you play for them (how to be a good, creative, independent person/mom/daughter/sister/wife, etc. of worth).

Yes, please link up your cookie recipe?

    Peace,
    Edie
