Boston!

A big thank you to ebay for giving me the opportunity to earn the money to pay for our trip to Boston to celebrate 20 years of marriage. Thought I'd share a few photos of our 10 day adventure. We had amazing food! Here Mr. Right is enjoying a whole lobster!

We were also able to pick up some fresh produce at the local farmers market. There's never a shortage of things to do and see in the city. Here's a few of our favorites...

The Holocaust memorial is amazing. It was touching to read the quotes that line the sidewalk and the walls of the 6 glass pillars that represent the 6 different concentration camps.

The Boston Public Library was the first library in the United States. The architecture was stunning.

Here, Mr. Right studies from a dictionary in the library. I'm sure you'll recognize this room as it's been featured in numerous movie filmings.
The 100 year old swan boats sit magestically in the pond at the Boston public garden.

We were able to enjoy many street performers through-out our stay.
Another performer imitating a statue.

Public transportation in Boston is so easy to navigate. During our 10 day stay we used, planes, taxis, boats, buses, subways, cars and of course our feet! After 8 days in Boston, Mr. Right's conference ended and we decided to take the train along the coast and stay in Rockport, MA. This is a beachside community that's part of Cape Ann so we wanted to find a hotel on the water. Being that it's high tourist season it was difficult to find an available room. Just 2 days before leaving Boston, we finally found an available hotel. We were a little nervous as we booked sight unseen and with a name like "Motel Peg Leg" we figured we might be in for an adventure.

However, upon arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by this quaint building...Oh wait! What's that next door? Headstones? A Cemetary? Not just any cemetary, a cemetary that dates to the pre-revolutionary war.Directly across the street however, was the ocean. I absolutely love the ocean. The sound, the smell, the air... So for two nights we stayed at our little oasis by the cemetary. Needless to say, not much time was spent hanging out at the Peg Leg- Mostly because Rockport is an amazing little town.
Here's a view. Mr. Right and I spent hours just watching the different types of boats come in and out from the harbor. The little red building in the far right is referred to as the Motiff Number 1 and holds the title of "most often painted and photographed building in America."

Bearskin Neck is a narrow stretch of land that juts out into the harbor. It's lined with adorable shops and multiple art studios. Mr. Right and I had such a great time sight seeing and spending time together. I can't think of a better person to have spent the last 20 years with.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who reads My Dear Trash- Without your encouraging comments I'm not sure I would have continued to sell on ebay. It's with these profits that we're able to enjoy a few extras every now and again. Love, Kelly.

  8. congrats on your anniversary, such a special thing.

i had no idea boston had a holocaust memorial site-just one more reason to visit, now, having never been there before.

i enjoy seeing your ebay/CL profits, and wish i could do it, too, but listing and shopping for the items all take time.

  9. I used to live in Wakefield, MA, and Rockport was one of my favorite places to visit! Did you see "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock? Rockport was the town they filmed as Alaska in that movie.
