Our Florida Trip!

Last Wednesday we loaded up our family and headed to the airport. Here we are excited for our week long adventure in Florida.
Our enthusiasm was curbed a bit when we missed our flight (evidently arriving an 1 hour and 5 minutes before your flight is not enough time on a Wednesday morning) and had to wait 6 hours to catch the next one, but we had a little breakfast, visited and I relisted 200 items on ebay! (I couldn't miss the opportunity to make a little money while on vacation) We were quickly reenergized when my 20 year old surprised us by meeting us at the Florida airport! Here she is with her baby sister...
She looks so beautiful! We headed to our villa at Bahama Bay Resort. Here's what it looked like on the outside...
We were on the 3rd floor, but the amenities were fabulous. After a good night sleep we started our Park hopping with Animal Kingdom.Everything in Florida is lush and green. Why? Because they get rain almost everyday. Here we are huddling under a cover during our first storm...
Park 2 was Epcot. Here we are sampling soda from around the World at the Cool Club...
Park 3 was MGM studios, where our daughter works. Here's some of the kids with Green Army Man (or woman)
Traveling with 6 kids sometimes makes you feel like you're in the twilight zone, but it was worth it.
Our oldest daughter pulled some strings and we had VIP seating for the Fantasmic show and a private meet and greet with Sorcerer Mickey, Minnie and Chip & Dale.
Can you bargain shop while at Disney World? You can if you have a daughter that works there. Our 6 year old picked out the cutest disney shirt- Just $28.00!!!!
But we were able to shop at the discount store and picked it up for just $6.75!
Mr. Right and I couldn't pass up an opportunity to lock up the kids...
Park 4 was Magic Kingdom and our last ride was "It's a small World" Here's Mr. Right cheering. I'm not sure if he's happy this is our last ride or just to be riding "It's a small world."
We bought lots and lots of treats, my favorite was this huge mickey rice krispy...
Our last show- The Electrical Parade! After many years on hiatus, it returned just 2 nights before our visit.
And as a perfect ending to our week in Florida- The Nightastic fireworks show over the castle...
It was truly magical. So, I'm sure many of you are wondering... Was the $4,400.00 we raised enough to pay for 8 days, 7 nights in Disney World with flight, hotel, tickets, car rental, food, souvenirs, gas, parking, and all the other things you need while on vacation? Pretty close. The good news is, I made over $350 this week with the items I relisted on ebay while waiting at the airport. Will I keep selling on ebay and craigslist? Of course. I'm completely addicted now. For the next 6 months or so I'm going to sell for selfish reasons- a new mattress, a master bathroom make-over and maybe a trip just for Me and Mr. Right. But the kids have already put in their request for next summer...A cruise. Looks like The Big Challenge Part 2 will start back up in January. I want to thank everyone again for all of your support- it's really been fun, I've learned so much about picking up some extra cash and I hope you keep sharing your stories with us at My Dear Trash. Love, Kelly.

  1. What a fun trip that looked to be! And it's so inspiring that you made most of the money yourself doing your online ventures/repurposing/reselling/renovating .... YEAH! I have no doubt your next goals will be achieved without any difficulty at all. Thanks for letting us in on the experience; it just makes me want to get out there and get busy too. :) Pam @ Sallygoodin

  5. Kelly:

Thanks so much for the post. We were hoping to get a detailed report! :)

I'm really thrilled for you and your family.

It feels so good to save for something, anticipate how much fun you are going to have, and then do it! You are an inspiration. And what a great lesson for your kids!

    Take care,
    Edie
