The Big Challenge Week 16: The Final Total!

It's here! The inlaws have moved in for the week and we're probably on the plane to Florida as you're reading this. Its been 16 weeks of selling on ebay, craigslist and garage sales but we finally made it. Our goal was to raise $4,000 to take our family of 7 to Florida to visit my oldest daughter, who's doing an internship for Disney. Let's start with this weeks ebay top sellers. It was definitely dress week...This Charlotte Russe, size large, grey dress sold for 8.50.

This adorable Apostrophe, size 18, navy blue, cotton dress sold for $10.50

And this believe, size 12, summer dress sold for 11.50. With all of my items being only $1.00, it was a great profit. Craigslist was also very busy this week...

Here's the chandelier I picked up for $4.00 a few weeks ago. I had hoped to put her in my new craft room, but she didn't fit- My storage cabinet doors would hit it when they were opened. I sold it for $20.00
Black tables always do well on craigslist. I was blessed to sell all 3 to one person. This table cost $10 and a few hours of refinishing time.

I also paid $10.00 for this table
This beautiful coffee table was just 25.00. I sold all 3 for $200 total- A great profit for me.

This kidsline farmhouse bedding set was just $10.00 at a yard sale. It sold for $30.
This is Laura's adorable pottery barn set she picked up at a yard sale for the nursery. We ended up using the one I bought for $10 at a yard sale- so she gave me hers in trade. I sold it for $25.
These two wingback chairs were the first piece of upholstered furniture Mr. Right and I bought- 18 years ago. They are made by Rowe - a great brand. Our tastes have definitely changed, but I've hung onto these in hopes of recoving them. It wasn't until last week that I realized they really weren't even the right scale for the room I had them in- so I sold them for $50 each.

What a fun challenge this has been- definite highs and lows, but in the end I've learned so much about how to make some extra cash and it's exciting to work together as a family toward a common goal. My girls have put in lots of time with their own challenge. They've been selling homemade cookies each Monday night to people we know in our neighborhood. Here they are with their trays of homemade goodies. They made a total of $630.00(no I didn't charge them for the ingredients) This money will be their spending money for personal wants during the trip. I'm so proud of them.

We are so thankful to everyone who have supported us. I appreciate our neighbors, friends and the followers of My Dear Trash- Your comments have inspired me to keep going, even when our goal seemed almost impossible to meet. I will make a little wish for all of you as I watch the fireworks in the happiest place on earth. Thank you all. Love, Kelly

  3. I am so encouraged by your success. I am planning to list my first items on eBay tonight. We are trying to earn enough money for an adoption and I am hoping this is something I can do from home to help my family.

    Enjoy your vacation!
