The Cheese Dome Turned Chic

"The Cheese Dome" A popular way to serve a hunk of cheese to your guests. I think these were popular in the 80's? Were they ever popular? Are they still popular? Either way there are a ton of these around at garage sales and thrift stores. I've been seeing multiple examples of do it yourself cake plates and apothecary jars in blogland and I didn't want to feel left out. So I paid $1.00 for my Cheese Dome. Here's a before pic of (do you see her in the lower right corner?)
Then, two weeks later, the garaging Gods were smiling upon me and I found this great pedestal candle holder (She's on top of the desk, with a silver box resting on her) for .50.
With a little Rustoleum's Semi Gloss black and some E6000 glue, I now have this...
I think she's so cute. I've replace the traditional cheese with some candles (from a garage sale) and some of my favorite rose hip potpourri. I ordered the tag from a lady on ebay, years ago. They're cinnamon scented.
Let me know what you think. Love, Kelly

  1. Hi kelly,
you don't know me, I'm laura's friend Jenny G's friend Kelly... anyway this is the best Idea EVER! Just yesterday I wipped out my cake stand to keep my pastries fresh and I was thinking that I wish I had something a little smaller and cuter to go along side of it...
I'm now on a mission for my very own cheese dome!
    thanks for the great idea!
