The Big Challenge Week 14

Only two more weeks before The Big Challenge Ends! My goal to raise $4,000 through ebay and craigslist to take my family to Florida is in near sight. I've really got to pull out all the stops these last two weeks. Here's this weeks ebay top sellers:We picked up these Gap size 4 bootcut black leather pants for $1.00 at a garage sale. I was happy to see that, although summer is here, they sold for $9.99.These Old Navy size 12 overalls didn't sell last week for $9.99, but this week sold for 11.56.

I had this Ann Taylor Petites size 4 skirt listed for 3 weeks with no success. Imagine my surprise when it sold this week with multiple bids for $12.50
These Gap Curvy low rise size 18 jeans sold for $12.00.

I had never heard of the brand Tahari before. But these size 4 jeans sold for 13.01. Overall, it was a great week on ebay. Craigslist, on the other hand, seems to be running a little slow lately. That seems to happen every few weeks- so hopefully this weekend will mean big sales. Remember the little tikes activity gym I picked up for $5.00?

A little google research showed this sold for around $50.00 new, but the research also showed that now you can only get these in the UK. Because little tikes holds its' value so well I decided to list it at $40.00- It sold in just a few hours. Even when craigslist is slow you can always sell little tikes. So how did I fare this week. Well, last week I spend $115 buying clothes to put on ebay. I didn't get them all listed so that took a big cut on my profits- Now they're all on, so hopefully next week I'll have a big return. Wish me luck. Love, Kelly.

Ebay Profits: This week: 310.06 Challenge Total: 2390.77
Craigslist Profits: This week 40.00 Challenge Total: 2210.00
This weeks Costs: 115.00 (clothes) -40.68 (ebay fees) -22.34(paypal fees) -5.00 (Cost to buy craigslist items)
Total Challenge Costs: 1416.31
Total Profit: $3184.46

  1. That is really great! I can't beleive people still wear leather pants. I always think of the episode of friends where Ross wears them and gets all sweaty and gets stuck. "It made a paste" LOL!!!

  2. Look for Tahari blouses, they make some beautiful pieces! Classy but with a trendy type vibe.
You're almost there! This has been so much fun watching this challenge.

  3. You're SO CLOSE!! How many weeks have you been working on this? I need some summer fun money, not for Disney, but just for activities around here...

  4. HI Kelly
Just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement last week when I was in an ebay slump. I will gladly accept your advice to keep shopping!! I am feeling much better this week, nothing like a few good sales to boost the old morale. I also wanted to mention to you about listing days. You said you list Tuesday nights for 7 days. I have been selling for a very long time and I also list on tuesday but for 5 nights so ending on sunday. I have found this to be the most profitable. I know this might sound dumb but Tuesday night a lot of people are watching tv instead of shopping. This week I couldn't get it all done on tuesday so I am trying a wednesday for 5 days ending on monday night which is not a good tv night. I know it sounds funny but true. I wish you all the best with your challenge, I have really enjoyed watching. I know you will make your goal no problem.

thanks again for your kind words. I really needed it.

  5. Hi,
I just found your website the other day and I'm loving it!! You got me motivated to sell on ebay again. What is your ebay seller name? I'd like to look at how/what you write in your listings.
    Thanks,
    Andrea
